San Diego Gulls v Ontario (CA) Reigns
Today began later than usual with brunch at Mama Kats with just Chris and De’Shaun. Little Landon was in daycare so missed out on the omelette, hash browns and biscuit.
To help settle down brunch we hiked part of the Ranchero De Costa Preserve trails in glorious weather with good views towards the coast to the west and hills to the east.
By the time we’d had a very late lunch we needed to leave to watch San Diego Gulls hockey team play Ontario (California) Reigns down in the city. Lots of traffic on the way there but much quicker on the way back. Good parking arrangements too, especially at the end of the game.
And it was a good game too, the Gulls winning 5-4 in overtime. It was as interesting watching the crowd as it was the game. By the start of the match the arena was about half full, people came in all through the first period and some were still entering the arena during the intermission.
And of course, people were up and down throughout play, greeting one another, going for food and drink, coming back with the same. Huge queues for stuff at the concessions too.
A very enjoyable experience, I’ve always liked hockey ever since I watched a lot in Canada when I lived there for a year and saw the great Wayne Gretzky play for the Toronto Maple Leafs. A few fights, lots of checking and crashing contacts against the boards!
Anyway, despite the views on the hike and a brief glimpse of Landon today’s blip had to be of the hockey game.
