Bales
Normal service is resumed! Well, insofar as I made it down onto the Canal this afternoon and had a most enjoyable walk in the snow to Wyndford Lock. It's been a while. Or at least that's how it seems.
The worst of the 'Beast from the East' seems to have passed and, although there are still quite a few residual problems and it will be some time before the snow melts away, the bus services around this way seem to be running again - unlike the trains from Camelon or Grahamston!
A trip to the shops this morning (only to see that the milk shelves were utterly bare) was followed by a walk along the Forth & Clyde Canal this afternoon. The towpath was mostly snow-covered still, but there was a discernible track made by previous walkers. The water in the Canal was frozen in parts, too, giving it an even-more photogenic (if rather monochrome) appearance than usual.
And yet I've gone for a picture from the farm track that leads down onto the Canal. The hay bales seem to occupy the field in place of their original inhabitants. My extra is of the lock gate at Lock 17, Underwood.
