Mossy Trees and Wet Clothes
It has rained a lot in the last three or four days, so a nice mossy shot seemed in order. We managed to sneak in our walk today between rain storms. It was 28 degrees F (about -2C) and we were walking briskly. Ozzie is much more chipper in this kind of weather than we are...he's taken to going outside and lying on the porch looking in. For reasons known only to Ozzie, he goes out through his dog door but expects us to let him back in again....
The dryer repair guy came yesterday and installed the new circuit board. Today it started dinging again and giving us the same error message. It is so frustrating that I think OilMan and I have both decided just not to think about it until Monday...although guess what I'm doing as I write this? We just kept running it (instead of calling for service) until the clothes finally got dry. We certainly aren't too concerned at this point about further damaging the damn thing....
I've been plowing through reading a book called Why Time Flies by Alan Burdick. Highly theoretical stuff but fascinating in the way that string theory is. A couple of observations struck me...
Events are perceivable but time is not....Time is not a thing but a passage through things.
-J.J. Gibson, psychologist
You can't fast forward through time while you're still in it. Time doesn't fly when you're having fun; it's found to have flown once the fun is over.
-John Weardon, Keele University, Staffordshire, England
Are we having fun yet?
