Monarch Metamorphosis

My last big caterpillar didn't climb to the top of the castle and hung to the piece of swan plant to pupate.  I could bring it inside and put it again a piece of polystyrene and take photos.  I like the simplicity of the white and greens.  Next time I looked the shiny chrysalis was in place.   I looked closely at the swan plant leaves and yes there is a baby caterpillar there.  Probably lucky it wasn't eaten by this big fellow.   I released a male butterfly this afternoon.  Perhaps he will over winter.
