Englishman in the Balkans

By BalkansDavid

Home is Calling

The last full day of this trip to the UK.

It's certainly not been boring, as there were people to meet, family to catch up with, planning for a major event later in the year and the "snow debacle" that might be costing over £1000 in repair bills.

Today I dropped into Reading with a very limited (by my standards) shopping list of "luxuries" I miss having.

So, Marmite, Coleman's Mustard and Spicy Čaj Tea bags.

A few surprises too (hence no mention here).

My suitcase certainly weighs considerably more on this outbound leg than on the inbound.

Within my baggage limit I think.

I was surprised, shocked even, to see so many homeless people sleeping rough in shop doorways in Reading.

I am still trying to remember, have I seen any rough sleepers in Banja Luka?

Although not the grooviest of pubs in the town, the Bugle in Friar Street, has always felt quintessentially English to me.

No time though, for a pie and a pint.

Tomorrow's post will undoubtedly be from the route "home".
