London Olympia today for the Sewing & Knitting show. Not normally my sort of thing but really impressive. I bumped into Helen who, in her own words, had the mad idea of creating 1568 calico & sawdust hearts for people to buy, decorate and send for exhibiting, raising funds for mental health awareness and treatment for those serving in the armed forces. She was told it might be too ambitious, she gathered all the objections and difficulties, and kept going. It'll be some exhibition!

Her plan is to create artwork to commemorate the centenary of Armistice Day and help raise funds for Combat Stress. Why 1568 hearts? One for each day of the First World War.

Extras of a fantastic quilt showcasing community homes and a display of home-sewn, hand-sewn names.

So it's not really about sewing & knitting, more about creativity, passion, inspiration, heart, hope, spirit & generosity. Excellent!
