Not much to report today - still digging border (see 20 October)

STOP PRESS - AMAZING NEWS!
Last night at 9pm (yes I was still digging by floodlight!) a BARN OWL came and sat on the gate (just behind the stile), watched me for a while (I was well illuminated) and flew off. When I went to look in the field later (well peer into the dark) it was hunting in the field. Fingers crossed he (I think it might be a he - can't tell yet) stays around. They are my very favourite bird.
