Cheese!!!

We slept like logs last night......woke up to early sunshine, but it didnt last too long, the cloud won the day, with one or two showers for good measure!

We had already made our minds up that no matter what, we were going to get out of the house. We spotted a cheese shop a few weeks back enroute to Morecambe, so off we went!

Dewlays make their cheese on site, which is shipped worldwide, as far as USA, India & Russia. As well as their shop, they have a viewing gallery upstairs, where you can observe the staff at work. We had timed our visit to perfection. They were mid way through making their Lancashire with Chives.

I took lots of shots, but have chosen to blip this one showing pretty much the whole process from milk, to curds and whey, to what looks like scrambled, but is cheese, ready for thr addition of salt and chives before pressing and maturing.

Of course we did buy a few things, some lovely blue Nicky Nook, Garstang Blue, Garstang Creamy White and Lancashire Tasty.
Oh and some fig chutney, and a lovely limoncello flavoured lemon curd.

We stopped off at Barton Grange for lunch, which was lovely, shared a sandwich, a small pork pie and a scone, washed down with a coffee. Bought some tall stemmed primulas, a lovely little cream tin jug, perfect for some daffys and some fresh fruit and veg.

We are having beef stew for dinner this evening before watching my team on tv.

Youngest is back to work tomorrow so all good.
