An unexpected Edinburgh afternoon tea

Our third outing of the weekend was to Ridgeback13's house for a posh snow-bound Sunday afternoon tea.

Like us, on Friday Ridgeback13 was obliged to cancel a journey south due to the snow. However, she was determined that if she were not to enjoy the company of her family over the weekend, then she would invite some friends over to her flat instead.

There were about fifteen of us in total, some of whom have been unexpectedly stranded in Edinburgh for the weekend: Mr hazelh and I should have been in Liverpool, Winsford in Pitlochry, and K in Helsinki.

The tea itself was amazing, as can be seen from Winsford's blip, and I loved drinking out of the proper china cups that belonged to Ridgeback13's mother and grandmother. It was like an old-fashioned children's party in the early evening when we were each given a 'going home' present. I am looking forward to working my way through my doggy bag of scones, florentines, and choclolate brownies next week.

It's been a rather odd weekend, but I have made the most of some quiet time at home to provide feedback on/edit two grant proposals for my colleagues, and enjoy the company of Edinburgh (as opposed to University) friends. Mr hazelh has also been happily absorbed in his coding. Hopefully we'll be back outside on our bikes/running next week once the snow has all melted.

Exercise today: walking (10,285 steps).
