Wide and narrow

The beach town of Nazare has both this vast expanse of beach and the narrowest street (or passageway) we've seen yet. This beach is around the corner from where big-wave surfers come to do their thing. We walked out to the roof of the fort shown in the linked photo but did not see any monster waves.

After an excellent lunch of a shrimp stew with rice and all the appetizer trimmings (bread, cheese, olives), we made our way to Praia do Baleal, also near the beach, where we walked this afternoon in a pleasant mix of light rain, wind, and sun. Sun won out in the end.
