Electric shepherd

A walk in Gijón's Parque Isabel la Catolica.

Although there are lots of birds in the lakes and also in an aviary here, a lot of potential close ups are hard to get. Since the bird-flu scare a few years ago, the lakes are surrounded by a head height electric fence and those in the aviary are behind two layers of mesh. It did amuse me however to learn that in Spain an electric fence is referred to as a "pastor electrico", that's to say, an "electric shepherd".
