Meditation
This was taken at Devilla Forest in Fife. I took the Kid on a photo walk here, because it's always hugely visually interesting at this time of year. I'm always attracted to the interesting patterns that nature scatters on the forest floor like this. It arrests my gaze.
I've spent the last couple of week meditating on my next steps in photography. I've realised that while the blip-a-day task was really helpful in the first few months, it's kind of getting in the way now. Running a photo business is sadly not mostly about taking photographs. And, if I'm honest, my fine art degree was more planning than shooting.
I've long complained about the speed of digital and I'm always looking for ways to put the brakes on - tripods, lightmeters, etc. It has it's benefits - the feedback loop from idea to finished image can be so fast now compared to the days and weeks it used to be, but on the negative side it causes me to treat it as an almost disposable medium, and undervalue my work and my time. And I love photography more than that.
So I need to slow down and make sure that I'm happy with everything I post online. Hence the first ever gaps in my calendar timeline thingy. No more emergency blips. Sometimes I'll be posting lots, other times it might be quite sparse.
