Venturing Out!

It was time to venture out again! Most of the ice had gone from the marina and we knew the area beyond would be broken up my Sunday's foray.When we got to Tixall Wide Kat & G had a walk to see what lay around the next bend. We could have turned the boat around at this point and gone back to the marina however, things didn't look too bad. We soon found a lady travelling alone, delighted to see us as she hadn't been able to get through the ice to fill up her water tank. Our technique of having crew on the bow breaking ice ahead of the boat had enabled us to proceed. 

A few yards on, at the lock, we met a boat coming towards us. Hurrah! They had broken a way through for us as we had done for them. Thereafter we had no problem with ice, and the later in the day it got, the less there was.

This morning Kat had seen a water rail in the marina! Wow!
