The Three Marys

John 19:25. "But standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene."


I brayered a stencil carelessly with some leftover paint, just to have a background to start with in my sketchbook. Then I stared at it for a while. 
First I saw the crucifix, then the three Marys. Very satisfying. 
I wish I could paint like this all the time!
