Flour and wood
In the local bread shop a discussion about the best bread and flour - La Verna, Cettica and the breadshop itself. All within ten miles of each other. Then to get seed potatoes - 10kg of Kennebec from Belgium. Then to the wood man- Settimo - to try and hurry up my order of 12 quintale of seasoned oak.
Later sawing up wood and pruning. Acacia (casha) smeels like dried bananas- a sweet lingering smell of burnt sugar when sawing. And a tree I'd taken for a pear but with spikes - maybe a sorbus - had the smell of coconut.
Then I started pruning my first olive tree. Armfuls and armfuls of stuff taken out to leave a framework of downward drooping branches.
This rainbow between showers. In Italy the folklore is that a rainbow has both feet in water. Which wasn't hard to believe today.
