Wainwright

Day 3 of the LPH Workshop saw us heading down Martindale to Howtown.  A rain shower had us diving into St Peter's Church for some bracketing and HDR practice  (I need more practice), before we started up one of Wainwight's fell walks, Hallin Fell.  As I currently spend most of my life sitting in a chair in front of a computer screen (and let's face it, a bit lazy to boot!), by halfway up I was puffing and panting and quite happy to enjoy the views over Ullswater.  However with encouragement, especially from John Gravett our workshop leader,  I managed all the way to the top to even better views, and the summit cairn marking the second Wainwight I've negotiated.

I found up later we had come up by the more difficult route - the way back down was far gentler would have been much easier to use going up!!

On the way back to base we stopped of at Pooley Bridge for the obligatory tea and cake, plus a visit to Chestnut House which stocks over 100 gins plus local ales etc.  I can't stand the stuff, but their display stands were fascinating, if only for some of the names (extra)
