I Turn My Back On You
Not sure what I did to upset the wee chap, I can only assume it's because I had no nuts for him when he came running up to say hello. Wandered back to his tree and gave me the silent treatment. That's the problem with these greys, gregarious but moody.
Still, it's a nicer image than last night's scary late-night offering.
The lunchtime walk did me some good, and sometimes all it takes is a smile. I was shut off, listening to some music as I ambled, not feeling particularly interactive. Heading along the street I entered a narrowed section of pavement behind a bus stop. An old woman coming the other way meant that I decided early to skip left so as not to be in her way, but she moved in the same direction. We did this three times very quickly, before finally settling into the sides we were going to walk by each other, and she broke out into a huge grin. To which I replied in kind.
I always do actually, when something like that happens. 90% of the time the person coming the other way will continue their sullen progress. But today there was that tiny spark of humanity that happens every now and then. It really is an almost insignificant moment, but it cheered me no end.
We'll see how long that lasts...
On the plus side as well, my brother's birthday present arrived more than a week early and looks great (I would have blipped or Flickrd it, but given he's in both places it would give the game away a bit).
