Big Air

Screams rang out on my walk today. A zip wire has been strung from a tree house into the garden of a property beyond the Donkey Field. Two girls were having great fun. I remember the excitement of playing on a zip wire fixed to a barn at a farm near the family home when I was young.

I photographed a huge badger paw print then noticed fresh fallow deer prints. I crept round the corner of the lake bank but there was nothing. Then a lone fallow deer crashed into view. Having seen and photographed deer in this position before I was able to predict where it would mount the bank and got a better shot of pronking or stotting with all hooves in the air than last time.

I walked at Lodge Farm this afternoon and achieved what I was hoping for, to see and hear skylarks. Spring is here! I told MrQ about them and he said that his uncle Leslie, who lost his mother when he was twelve, used to cry when he heard a song called Skylark! Skylark! https://archive.org/details/edbell-5911 Not surprising given the lyrics. :(
