Fullers vintage ale vertical tasting
Every year fullers produce an 8.5% strong ale/barley wine. The malt and hop bill changed each year so each one is different. It is bottle conditioned so it also matured in the bottle.
Tonight Adam has been kind enough to organise a vertical tasting of 7 years. 2017, 2016, 2011, 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2004.
Very interesting tasting. The common them is of marmalade or Burt orange.the older beers show a more nutty and sherry character. By 2004 it has gone beyond beer flavours to something quite remarkable.
This little lot would cost you £550 if you bought it from fullers now - luckily Adam had the sense to buy them at about £4 to £6 s bottle and keep them !
