Dramatic Solutions

Today was the last day of the seven-day performing arts festival.  And it was dedicated entirely to a 'youth summit' focusing on kids and young adults showcasing how art can impact a community. It's part of a social justice program sponsored by the art center.

The pic is of a singer from the very first performance this morning, by a group called Dramatic Solutions. It engages juvies incarcerated in DC prisons by having them address their concerns, fears, and hopes through theater. It was well done and heartfelt, ranging from explosive anger to wistful wishes -- much in line with concerns of youngsters everywhere. The only give-away were the armed guards posted at all exits...
