Can't see the wood for the trees....

....that shouldn't have been so difficult!
Visited a local (large) woodland, about 10-15 minutes drive from home.
Lots and lots of photo opportunities, so why am I struggling?
Maybe I can't see the wood for the trees!
I don't know what to do. I really, really enjoy my photography, but my results seem pretty, well, below average.
I know the theory, yes, I've still got tonnes to learn, but I'm pretty sure I know the basic principles.
I know my camera and lenses inside out, maybe not for video, but then again, I'm not "into" video.
What's the deal? .... maybe just "one of those days"!
