Beavers v. humans

Beside the Tay at Dunkeld with my walking group, we noticed the increasing evidence of beavers all along the river bank.

However I was struck by the difference in scale between the scattered felling by the beavers and the wholesale clearing of a wood by foresters. These two pictures were taken at one spot, looking at opposite sides of the path.

(I understand the felled fir trees were suffering from rot, and area will be replanted with broadleaved trees.)
