Proud coach
Well where do I start, 12 months ago I started coaching/managing my lads football team, they're u7s and in the mini soccer league which is 5aside, I have 8 players.
One player, kian, has been there from the start, in fact he was there before anyone, training with our other u7s who didn't think he was ready, he then trained for the younger age group,
Me and his parents spoke and I explained that we would be playing games in a league and that it would be quite tough, and I had concerns that it could be to much for him but that if they were happy, I wanted to give the kid a chance. In my eyes he deserved it.
Well, he turns up first every training session, understands when he's sub and never complains, he gives his all, always says thank you at the end of sessions,
Well , to cut a long story short, we were losing 2-1 yesterday when we were given a free kick on the edge of the box, .. I quickly got kian on the pitch to take it ( has got a great kick on him)
Well he only went and scored!!!
All our players went running to celebrate with him, his mom cried and I had the biggest smile on my face!!!
Tonight at training I had this...
So if you're a coach, it's not always about being the best and winning... it's about giving kids a chance..
