Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

One elephant, went out to play...

After asking for suggestions for places to lunch the other day I realised that I hadn't been to one of my own favourite places for a while, Bon Papillon in Howe Street.
It's a unique place, a coffee /light lunch place, a gallery, a framer, a book group venue, you name it. Ingrid, one of the owners is an artist and her studio is to the rear, Stuart does the baking and is a framer. Their soups are great and their cakes and scones wonderful, the cakes come with slices of fresh fruit, cream and drizzles of honey.
Actually I don't know why I am telling anyone about the place because it is quite small and if you all go there may be no room for me!
Ingrid is an artist and so her works are always on display along with other Scottish artists. She also has a 'smallest room' gallery and I've often wanted to buy one of her pictures.
Today, being a bit of a fan of India.... not that you would have guessed, this blue crayon drawing caught my eye, I could afford it, so it is now hanging in our lounge below another elephant picture.
If you do go in, tell Ingrid 'the birthday woman' sent you!
For a while, whenever we went in it seemed to be a birthday or an anniversary or some other celebration which was the cause of some amusement!
