In Ross : the old curiosity shop..x

I rather like this sign, hidden on the loft of The Old Curiosity Shop. On the other side it says, 'if you managed the stairs, buy something! otherwise you've wasted your breath, for no reason'.

You can imagine the same scene in this same shop as in Charles Dickens novel with the same name. The 'not quite 14 year old' Nell, and the dealings of her after hours gaming of her grandfather, which put the pair into a dire financial situation. Its a truly sad tale, of a families love and affection ruined by money lenders and squanderers. People so desperate to keep their families together that they are forced into harsh means to survive.

Not a such a Dickensian tale in modern hard times. x
