Hallimasch Tree
We were out to wreak havoc on the mushroom population again and were astonished to see this. These are edible mushrooms (honey fungus) growing round this tree - it might be worth embiggening this just to see how many.
There were mushrooms in abundance again but they were the really good ones - I had a nice bit of success in finding Steinpilze (or Ceps as they are called). These are very tasty mushrooms. I also found a really nice stash of Hexen-Röhrlinge, these are very weird mushrooms that turn purply blue when you cut them - I may blip that tomorrow - but they are also very tasty. In the end we came away with about 5 kilos (11lbs) of really, really good edible fungus.
Other news is very exciting. Regular visitors will know that I recently had an interview for what would have been my ideal job. I thought I had totally messed it up and had resigned myself to finding a menial job elsewhere. Anyway, I've just opened up my email to find I've been invited to a second interview.... I'm ever so slightly chuffed. On two counts - one, my German is obviously better than I think and two, I managed to impress some 2 people that I knew what I was talking about.
I may open a beer to celebrate this.
