Gin Tour!

We walked to Summerhall and back, which added up to nearly yesterday's steps. It doesn’t sound much compared to what most folk do in a day, but I haven’t walked home from the city, as I did yesterday, for many years!

Today we had a long anticipated Gin Tour. I booked it through Itison ages ago, and was alerted to the good value by Rufus's mum, who keeps an eye on such things. And what good value it was! We started with a G&T in the pub, moved to the distillery, which is tiny, and after the talk we tried three different gins. One of them was 'Navy strength'. Neat.

The lass doing the talk was great, very enthusiastic. And it was an interesting story how it all got started. And even more interesting - the history of TONIC! We came away with a free bottle of gin!

We returned to the quirky pub to have lunch, as Christine had instructed us not to hurry back (she was looking after Archie). I had a really healthy lunch of the best chips I’ve had in a while, and the local beer, brewed on the premises. Finishing off with warm banana bread and poury cream, with a very good coffee. Yum yum.

A grand day out.
