Walter
There was such a panic a couple of days ago.
Walter went missing. Couldn't be found anywhere.
Then someone had the inspiration to call one of the (long-retired) rangers. He told us that Walter was at Old Government House. But where? Another phone call to a retired member of the Committee who remembered that he was stored somewhere in "the tin shed". It just so happens that I have one of the only two keys for "the tin shed".
So I went hurrying up - like I haven't seen enough of Old Government House over the past few weeks. And sure enough there was Walter long forgotten, lying under a sheet. Whereupon he was rescued by me, and delivered to our President, who was having CONNIPTIONS about the loss of Walter.
The point to this whole story being that his grave has been restored, and was due to be re-dedicated today and Walter's picture was desperately needed for the ceremony.
Walter Gooch was the founder of the Belair National Park, and an amazing man of great foresight and courage. His biography makes a great read. Without him, there would be no Belair National Park and that really doesn't bear thinking about.
