Rapunzel's view!?

This dizzying view is from Tyndale's Monument at North Nibley, Gloucestershire, and was built to commemorate William Tyndale.  The inscription reads
ERECTED A.D. 1866
IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OFWILLIAM TYNDALETRANSLATOR OF THE ENGLISH BIBLEWHO FIRST CAUSED THE NEW TESTAMENTTO BE PRINTED IN THE MOTHER TONGUEOF HIS COUNTRYMENBORN NEAR THIS SPOT HE SUFFEREDMARTYRDOM AT VILVORDEN INFLANDERS ON OCT 6 1536
Hard to imagine now that he knew he risked certain death in translating the Bible into English for ordinary folk to read - and the momentous impact that led to, across Europe and the world.
The monument can be seen from as far away as Bristol and stands on the Cotswold Way.  The 121 narrow, spiralling and dark steps were a challenging climb - but worth the amazing view across the River Severn towards Wales.
I shared a few extras to give a sense of the height!
