At the Hayward Gallery

It was a cold snowy day in London. I began at the Royal Academy where they have re- assembled Charles 1's art collection. Countless Van Dyck's, several Titian's etc. I was amused that many had been lent from the present Queen's private collection. Afterwards I wandered past Christies and a number of fine art shops where I watched a sculpture being unloaded (see extra), before crossing the bridge at the Embankment. This felt as cold as anything I have experienced for quite some time. Then up to the Hayward Gallery, past a yellow submarine to remind me of home, and into Andreas Gursky's exhibition which was truly wonderful. Amazing photographs, many of which were enormous (2m x 3m- perhaps larger). Thoroughly recommended.
