299 & 300
A trip to Kilminning Castle, Fife Ness today - we'd been keeping an eye on the sightings there while down in Hertfordshire:
Since 14th October there'd been an Eastern Olivaceous Warbler and a Red-breasted Flycatcher present and on the 18th they were joined by a Radde's Warbler. In that we'd never seen any of these birds we were hoping they'd hang on until we were up in Perth.
Unfortunately the Radde'sWarbler departed a couple of days ago, but the other two were still there yesterday, so here's hoping they'd still be there today and not too elusive. As you can see from today's photo, they were and they weren't.
And why 299 & 300? Well the Red-breasted Flycatcher on the left was the 299th British Bird Species I've photographed and the Eastern Olivaceous Warbler on the right brought up the 300.
