A short plane journey to Philadelphia. Next to me a woman continues Facebook conversations as we trundle onto the runway. When I ask if she would go into airplane mode she replies: “It’s ok. My dad’s a pilot. Anyway, we’re still on the ground.”

At Philly, the rental company try to give me one of their staff’s cars. We sort it out and I head into the sunny Pennsylvania road network. Arriving in Phoenixville, Keith and I head into town for food and drink. A pint on the Iron Hill veranda, followed by food at Root Down.
