Thistle Down

By Ethel

A Teacher

A teacher...patted the head of a child,
Two bright eyes looked up and smiled.
"Why...O teacher...was I ever made,
In this big world...I am sure afraid."

Teacher's arm was firm and true,
She whispered softly..."I'll help you".
I'll take your hand and warm your heart,
And help you find the better part.

I'll be your anchor and your stay,
I'll put the sunshine in your day.
I'll teach you well of life's great store,
And turn the latch to open your door.

By my example...I'll show you the way,
So that by the commandments you will not stray.
To keep you from stumbling on earthly sod,
I'll point the way that leads to God.
