Mono Monday: "Exotic"

This piece of heraldry's been intriguing me for years. Plenty of mundane stuff in it (like a trio of unicorns), but the really exotic part is... there appears to be a hippo rampant, rising from the waves!!

I was a bit disappointed to find out what it's really meant to be... The crest celebrates a marriage between the Stewart and Meldrum families, and a friend of mine found out from a retired Herald that it is in fact...an otter!! (I have to say, I wonder whether the carver had ever actually seen an otter...!)
