little gems

Out today at a local national trust property and caught sight of this little gem in bright sunlight, almost hidden in a corner. The additional photo is another almost obscured gem.
Things are often concealed in plain view.. where other "stuff" claims centre stage because it is brighter, louder, seemingly more important. As in life, we miss the wonder in the everyday events because we are conditioned to only see what, or who, we perceive or have been taught to be the most significant, important, vital.
In my lens collection are some old gems and it is necessary to recalibrate them to cope modern digital technology - otherwise they remain nice relics of a time gone past. 
Sometimes our eyes need a little recalibration too - lest me miss the marvellous!
