Lethendy

The final day of our weekend away in the Blairgowrie area. After church in Blairgowrie in the morning I went for a walk before lunch. Just up the road from where we were staying was a ruined church: Lethendy Old Parish Church, also known as Lethendy Kirk.

The gravestones in the kirkyard date from the mid-19th century onwards but records indicate that the original building dates from perhaps the early 17th century, but was substantially rebuilt in the mid-19th century. It fell into disuse in 1929 and is now just a ruin.
