Common Grackle

These guys can be annoying when they swoop in en masse to feed at the bird café - but they're also very funny. And since I'm not plagued with them day in and day out, I generally enjoy their occasional visits. Suddenly this afternoon there were about 30 or 40 of them out front and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them jockey for position. The extra is of a group trying to share the peanuts. One of them suddenly puffed himself up - in order to look more imposing, I suppose! They also do another thing where they throw their head up and back and sort of stretch upwards. Fascinating to watch.
