Strawblurry

Michelle and I were acting the goat in the supermarket, as the photo shows. Shops in places like Monrovia can be horrifyingly priced. I want to know who would ever pay $16 for a tiny punnet of 6 blackening strawberries. Good strawberries are like little nuggets of ecstasy, but not the ones on display here. We got dried mango pieces instead.

On this note, the cold snap in the UK had better not have killed off our young strawberry plants, or I'm definitely emigrating this time.

A few people in the conservation game, including the former manager of the project I'm now covering, gathered on the beach for some food. Apart from the price of imported soft fruit, Monrovia wouldn't be the most outrageous place to spend more time.
