Trip on a bus

to the nearest town of Conegliano to check out the cost (€5.20 return for both of us) and timing (15minutes) to the railway station for future reference. After a coffee and brioche we wandered along the path beside a waterway coming across this hole in the wall showing a man pruning a tree on the other side.

On up to the castle hoping for a hot chocolat, we had one here last week and it was the best. Not today though, the cafe is closed Monday and Tuesdays. Fortunatley the castle museum was open and for €1.50 each we could look around with flights of stairs taking us up to a beautiful view of the Dolomites on one side and the town on the other. And by now it’s almost warm and sunny.

When up there we could smell coffee beans roasting, earlier there was a sign for a Dersut cafe museum and on the walk down we found it, closed. Another day perhaps. The name Dersut is seen on a number of cafes here in Santa Lucia and Conegliano, I have since checked and find its family run and local to the area.

Extra: the castle museum, bottom right is a huge chimney opening,
and view from the top
