Though the creation of luxury tourist apartments in the ancient building between the Palace of Holyrood and the Scottish Parliament wouldn’t strike many as the best use of the space, the inclusion of a new Education Centre is a step forward as is the recreation of the original physic garden.

Moreover the very imaginative presentation of the building whilst it is being converted is worthy of praise , especially the Unicorn on the gable - which I will blip one day when I can work out the best angle - and this 1820 picture of the site which covers the entire front , repays close study and can be seen from the member’s meeting room beside the Parliament main chamber.
