Sun peaking thru clouds, Sandia Mountains
The big granite wall is a formation called the shield. The snowy part over the shield is the limestone cap on top of the mountains. Sadly, the powder sugar dusting over the top of the mountain is all the moisture that we got in Albuquerque out of this storm and the plants are beginning to look very sad.
I am supposed to retire in two months. This is causing me great anguish because I am having a hard time conceptualizing who I will be if I don't work. I have worked full-time since I was 18 (40 years). I don't think I will miss the work politics and getting up early and acting polite to bad clients who are powerful and short changing good clients who aren't (management decisions, not mine), but I will miss the thrill of a good program, finding a bug or doing good graphics. Ah well, I don't have to decide until Friday around noon because the party for this quarter's retirees is at 3.
Today, I give thanks for the day I was given, the job that has been there for 35 years, and that it is my decision to make.
