Lily, Symbol of Purity.

The white lily is used on many occasions, such as weddings and funerals. A Roman legend says that when Venus rose from the water and saw a lily, she became envious of the flower's beauty. Feeling threatened, she gave the flower a large and long pistil at it's centre, in the hope that by doing so, the lily would be less attractive. The lily is also symbolized as a proclamation of love and lust which is also represented by Venus.
