Waxwings

We've spotted some twitchers out & about locally these last few days, and today I went out to ask them what they were up to.

A pair of waxwings has been living in the local churchyard and coming across the road to a nearby berry-laden tree to feed. So I went out with my long lens and 1300 photos later, on rapid fire, I had a few which I thought were worth processing.

I didn't know this, but according to the RSPB website they sometimes come to the UK from Scandinavia, during "irruptions" when the population on their breeding grounds gets too big for the food available.

There's more info at this link, and a few more of my photos on flickr here.
