Barn and Trees, Alsop-en-le-Dale
It's taken a bit of time but my long time walking buddy and I finally got out for another walk today. Some of you may remember the travails on our last outing together. I'm glad to say there were no such problems today and while his ankle still doesn't have the same range of movement as before the accident, it didn't phase him on a short 10 mile walk up Dove Dale and down the Tissington Trail.
This image was at about the half way stage and we were interested in the shallow bowl in front of this barn. Although overgrown, you could clearly see a concrete construction and shallow concentric ridges, we assume to allow animals safe access to a water supply.
We don't seem to have lost any of our speed in walking with section on the old railway line ranging between 16 and 17 minutes a mile; mind you it's all down hill! We had the added enjoyment of seeing a stoat cross in front of the car by the River Dove, just before we parked up. Regrettably, the camera was neatly packed away in the back of the car, which was particularly galling as it even had the affront to stop after crossing the road and look back at us from a few feet away. Ah well.
