Sand trees
The first shelter belts of trees was planted at the Gairdins in Sand in 1991. There is now a variety of well established trees and shrubs, ponds, a wild flower meadow, boat roofed hut and shed for school groups or volunteers to shelter. Great place!
The weather was grey and very wet but 'co-worker for the day', Vanessa, and I, had a really enjoyable Westside day.
We allowed ourselves brief coffee breaks at friends' houses. Lovely to catch up with a couple of old work colleagues who I haven't seen for years.
Directions to properties were checked and several mystery addresses identified with local knowledge and a phone call or two.
At every stop there was talk of 'Shetland' and 'who done it'. Some were reluctant to reveal too much and spoil the final episodes for us, despite V's insistence that 'WE' didn't mind! Most people seem to have enjoyed it and have had fun recognising familiar scenery.
