A walk in Sutton Park.
It is no secret amongst my family and friends that I love trees. I also like to paint watercolour pictures of trees.
This morning we set off to walk in the park on a day which is officially the first one of BST (British Summer Time) The clocks were advanced an hour last night which gives us lighter evenings. These increase daily up to June 21st, Midsummer Day, when it is still light by 10.00 pm. In Northern Scotland it is 11.00 pm.
I was also breaking in my new walking boots in readiness for our once yearly trip to the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, where we have been going for the past 25 years.
It does not matter how many times we find ourselves tramping along this particular bit of the South West coastal path, I never grow tired of drinking in the scenery and the accompaniment of the sound of the sea.
We have been there in all weathers, and our oldest son's ashes are scattered near the furthest point south.
We sit on the rock which hides them in a deep fissure.
He was married for 6 years and not long had his 30th birthday when he was killed in 2006 by a sleeping lorry driver on the motorway.
He loved the Lizard too, as did his brother, who is now married with 3 children. Our lovely grandchildren.
Nature is therapeutic, and a solace.
Today was a gift.
