The Devil's Chimney
A fab day out for our daughter's birthday (which was actually on Friday). Our son joined us with our granddaughter and son-in-law for a lovely roast dinner (loin of pork) at the Royal Oak in Ripon. It was slightly unusual in that the joint of meat (huge) was brought to the table in one piece and left for us to carve! It was brilliant, with huge Yorkshire puds and bowls of roasties and veg. We had pre-ordered it so it was ready when we arrived.
Afterwards we went to Studley Royal park and walked along the Seven Bridges Valley (actually only five remain). Had a great time climbing in, on and through great fallen tree trunks as well as playing Pooh sticks at all the bridges.
Photo is of the Devil’s Chimney (also known as the Roman Monument) ..a folly / gazebo built in 1735 to look out over the valley.
