'Ivy' the Podenco dog
A beautiful, sunny day.
An enjoyable Café Church this morning and then onto the Birkhill Inn for Sunday Lunch, which was excellent. We were impressed with the Gluten Free Menu they produced - Eleanor doesn't always get this service.
In the afternoon we went over to Tentsmuir Beach for a walk. The beach is huge when the tide is out so there was lots of opportunities for 'big sky' photos. We met a couple who were training this young Podenco dog called 'Ivy'. They are a breed from the Canary Islands and are used in packs as a hunting dog, primarily rabbit hunting. Unfortunately, when the dogs are too old for hunting they are left tied to a tree to die.
A Scottish Rescue Charity works to save these dogs and the couple got the pup from there - you can see some of the work of the charity here.
I managed a mile and half walk over the sand dunes and the sand itself - tougher going than on the road or a treadmill :-) If you would like to see more photos of the Beach, see my Flikr Album here.
