I love and loathe Maundy Thursday in equal measure. I love it for the wonderful example of love, service and community Jesus has given us to emulate.

I loathe it because the service involves foot washing, and naturally as one of the clergy, I have to show the reluctant congregation that it really is OK to expose your feet (or in my case toenails) to others and have someone else touch them in all their misshapen glory.

So today I went and got a pedicure and a nice lilac nail polish on my toes. It covers a multitude of sins. There is only so much a priest wants to reveal to their congregation.
