The end of the road - Westmoreland Way Part 9

In pouring rain we left Crooklands and started the final 10 miles of the Westmoreland Way. Thankfully after the first hour it dried up but underfoot was very wet and slippy. The route was mainly along very muddy footpaths and tracks and the conditions meant it wasn't long before two of the group had ended up falling and getting even muddier than the rest of us. The route took us along the Kendal and Lancaster canal and then out through Beetham, down the fairy steps and up Arnside Knot from where the blip is taken. In two weeks we finish a section of the Cumbria Way from Latrigg over High Pike to Caldbeck which was missed due to bad weather. After that, in the summer, we embark on the Howgills and Limestone Trail from Kirkby Stephen to Settle.
